What is AbroadWorks, and what services do you provide?
We are a global staffing agency designed to make international hiring easy for our clients around the world. We match talented professionals with clients in need of administrative, operations, marketing, business support, and more.
Do I need prior experience to apply?
Prior experience is preferred but not always required. We evaluate candidates based on skills, aptitude, and alignment with our clients’ needs. If you don’t have direct VA experience but have relevant skills (e.g. communication, organization, tool use), we still encourage you to apply.
What is the application and hiring process?
Our hiring process typically includes:

Submission of your application and resume
Skill/assessment test
Initial screening by HR / Talent team
Interview(s) with the potential client
Matching with a client
Onboarding & training (if selected)
What are the working hours/schedules like?
You’ll generally work within clients’ business hours. Many clients require overlap with standard business hours in their region (for meetings, communication). Shift flexibility or asynchronous schedules may be allowed depending on the client.
How is compensation determined?
Compensation is based on factors including experience, skillset, type of tasks, and market rates. We aim to offer competitive rates and will communicate the expected rate during the hiring process.
What tools/software should I be familiar with?
Familiarity with tools like Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets), Microsoft Office, project management (Asana, Trello, Monday, ClickUp), communication tools (Slack, Zoom), and possibly CRM/marketing tools (Mailchimp, HubSpot, etc.) is advantageous. The exact tools vary depending on the client.
What is the contract type — employee or contractor?
You will generally be engaged as an independent contractor/freelancer, not an employee. (You are responsible for your taxes, etc.) We’ll clarify this in your agreement.
What growth or advancement opportunities are there?
We encourage career growth within AbroadWorks. Team members may advance into senior or lead roles or specialize in different areas. Promotions and advancement opportunities are based on performance, reliability, and client feedback, ensuring that growth is both earned and aligned with your professional goals.
How do you evaluate performance?
Performance is evaluated based on the quality and consistency of your work, reliability, communication, and overall professionalism. We also take into account feedback from clients and direct managers, as their input helps us ensure strong alignment, continuous improvement, and recognition for excellent performance.
Is this a scam? How can I verify legitimacy?
We understand concerns around remote work legitimacy. AbroadWorks will never ask you to pay a fee to join. We will use verifiable business correspondence, contracts, and clear payment methods.
What types of roles do you hire for?
We typically hire for roles such as:

Is this remote / work-from-home only?
Yes, all positions are fully remote. You can work from anywhere (subject to time zone compatibility, reliable internet, etc.).
Is this full-time or part-time?
Most of our available roles are full-time, as we work with clients who prefer dedicated, long-term support. However, we occasionally open part-time positions depending on specific client needs. If part-time roles become available, they will be clearly indicated in our job listings or during the application process.
How often do you get paid and by what method?
Payment is typically on a bi-monthly basis. Exact payment schedules and methods will be clarified in your contract.
Do you provide training or onboarding support?
AbroadWorks does not provide formal skills training, but we support you throughout the onboarding process to ensure a smooth transition into your role. Once you’re matched with a client, you may receive client-specific or in-house training directly from them to help you learn their systems, tools, and workflows.
Can I work for multiple clients at the same time?
We ask all AbroadWorks team members to focus on one client at a time to ensure the highest quality of work and consistent support. Subcontracting or taking on additional clients while engaged with an AbroadWorks client isn’t allowed, as we value your full commitment and the trust our clients place in you.
What happens if a client engagement ends?
If a client ends a contract, we will do our best to reassign you to another client based on your skills and availability.
Do I need to be located in a specific country or region?
Not necessarily. We welcome applicants from around the world, though we may prefer certain time zone overlaps depending on client needs. However, you must have a stable internet connection and agree to communication hours aligned with clients.
How do I get started/apply?
